tip102 transistor equivalent
TIP102 is produced by ST (STMicroelectronics) NPN-type Darlington tube (the biggest advantage of the Darlington tube is that the driving ability is stronger), the main parameters are the maximum withstand voltage value of 100V, the maximum collector current of 8A (can withstand a peak current of 15A), the dc current gain (hFE) of 1000. It can be seen that the TIP102 has strong current amplification ability and low Saturation voltage drop (typical value 2.5V, the smaller indicates lower loss and better performance), suitable for high-power scenarios, such as motor drive, power supply control or current amplification circuits. The TO-220 package makes heat dissipation and layout more convenient.
What is a Darlington Triode:
A Darlington Triode is made up of two ordinary bipolar triodes (BJTs) (both NPN and PNP are possible), with the emitter of one connected to the base of the other (the gain effect in this case, is equivalent to the product of the gain effect of the two individual BJT tubes), which creates a composite triode with a greater current gain (also called a Darlington Triode). The advantage of this approach over connecting two BJT tubes on a PCB is that a smaller package means a smaller footprint, lower cost, and better performance.
Darlington tube in the first transistor in the operation of the role of the emitter follower, the input current for the first time to amplify (assuming that the magnification of A), and improve the input impedance; the advantage of doing so is that the Darlington tube can become easy to drive (to reduce the complexity of the design of the drive circuit). The second tube is used to amplify again, assuming an amplification of B. The total amplification is A*B.
