The mb6s is a rectifier bridge chip whose function is to convert AC power into DC power by utilizing the unidirectional conduction characteristics of diodes. Since only two diodes operate at the same time during each operating cycle of the rectifier bridge, we can divide the rectifier operating cycle into positive and negative half cycles.
Positive half-cycle current path
The figure shows that when the alternating current is in the positive half cycle, diodes D2 and D3 conduct and the current flows as shown below:
Negative half-cycle current path
The figure shows that when the alternating current is in the positive half cycle, diodes D1 and D4 conduct and the current flows as shown below:
Output voltage versus filter capacitance and load
In the case of direct output, the output DC is equal to 0.9 times the RMS value of the input AC (in China, the RMS value is 220 times the root 2).
In the case of capacitor output: the output DC is equal to the input AC RMS value multiplied by 1.414, but this voltage fluctuates, and the range of multiplication is between 0.9 and 1.4.
